Before really diving into researching Ayahuasca, the word on the street usually leads us to believe it’s one of the most elaborate drugs out there. It has been described as a drug that gets people off of other drugs due to it’s powerful effects, scaring the drug user into never wanting to take a substance ever again. However, once you dig deep into researching this miracle plant, you learn that it does in fact come from mother nature and has been used and studied for years in religious ceremonies around the world. The fact that it has the ability to prevent serious drug users from continuing their debilitating habits is a miracle to say the least.

Another interesting fact about one of the substances that is occasionally mixed with Ayahuasca that has been deemed illegal by the US, is called DMT. The reason this is interesting is because DMT is actually found in the human body already and is a natural substance produced by the pineal gland in the brain. Despite the fact that it is already found naturally occurring in the brain, it has been labeled a Schedule 1 drug by the DEA, making it illegal for medical research in the US and putting it in the same category with many dangerous drugs.
